Professional Qualifications
Since the start of his career in 1989, Jim Eichten has specialized in providing accounting, auditing, and consulting services for clients in governmental, nonprofit, and commercial industries, among others. During this time, Jim has provided service to a variety of institutions; helped organizations earn and retain industry certifications, and consulted on financial management issues. In each of these situations, and for every client project, his focus is to provide solutions that are thorough, tailored to clients' unique needs and that adhere to the most stringent standards.
To keep his skills current, Jim receives at least 40 hours annually of continuing professional education, a significant portion of which are related specifically to governmental issues. Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration, with an accounting emphasis, from the College of St. Thomas.
Service Expertise
- Conducts annual audits of school districts, municipalities, and other government entities, and the associated federal financial assistance program audits
- Delivers management consulting services, including internal control studies, operational and procedural reviews, cash flow projections, revenue projections, and debt service studies
- Provides audit and accounting assistance to commercial and closely-held companies
- Completes monthly and yearly financial reports and tax returns
- Assists with the implementation of new accounting and financial reporting standards
- Assists municipalities and school districts in obtaining and retaining the GFOA and ASBO Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
- Assists in the development of audit manuals for municipalities, school districts, and other governmental entities, and for commercial and closely-held companies

- Served on committees of the Office of the State Auditor and the Minnesota Department of Education
- Presenter and moderator at numerous professional education conferences
